ARTICLE III - Membership
Section 1. Persons interested in the purposes of this club shall be eligible to apply for membership.
Section 2. The following are the types of memberships offered by the club:
a) Regular (voting) Membership is open to any person eighteen years of age or over.
b) A Regular member has all the privileges of Club membership including eligibility to vote and hold office.
c) Option 1 - Family Membership (voting) may be held by an additional person eighteen years of age or over residing at the same address as the Regular member. To clarify, one would purchase a $15.00 Regular membership plus $10.00 for one extra person who would have all the privileges of a regular club member including eligibility to vote and hold office. This person must be eighteen years of age or older. Therefore yearly membership would be $25.00.
d) Option 2 - Family Membership (Single Vote/Family) may be held by any additional family member residing at the same address as the Regular member. To clarify, one would purchase a $15.00 Regular membership plus $5.00 for each additional family member of any age, who would be without voting privileges and is ineligible to hold office. No limit on the number of family members that can be added.
e) Junior/Associate Member: A person under the age of eighteen. This membership has all the privileges of club membership except those of voting and holding elected office.
f) Life Member: A member who has been honored by the club for outstanding and long time services to the club or cat fancy. This membership would be awarded after nomination and vote by the general membership. Life members have all the privileges of regular members and are exempt from membership dues.
Section 3. Initial membership will not take affect until an application is received together with the requisite fee, and a membership card issued in the name of the applicant. Membership applications shall be reviewed and acted upon separately. Should the Board or Membership deem it necessary to at any time, a vote can be taken by the membership to determine whether or not the applicant will be accepted or rejected. Any individual rejected by the club must be provided with a written explanation. Fees will be refunded to an applicant not accepted as a member.
Section 4. A simple majority of votes shall be sufficient to accept or reject application. Tie votes shall be considered as a rejection.
Section 5. Notice shall be sent to each accepted or rejected applicant by the Corresponding Secretary.
Section 6. The dues of this club shall be payable on or before (January 1) of each year for the ensuing year.
a) Regular Membership - $15.00/year
b) Family Membership - $10.00/year (Voting: One per Regular Membership)
c) Family Membership - $15.00 yearly, additional non-voting family members $5.00
d) Junior/Associate Membership - $10.00 yearly
e) Life Member - No Dues
Section 7. Upon failure to pay dues within 3 months after the due date, the delinquent member shall be automatically dropped from membership. Notice shall be sent to the delinquent member by the Membership Chair at least two weeks before the grace period expires.
Section 8. It shall be the duty of each member to uphold the purposes of the Prairie Feline Fanciers cat club and ACFA by carefully fulfilling the terms of all transactions concerned with cats, such as sales, stud fees and pedigrees, whether such business is carried on with other club members or breeders or with the public at large. Upon receipt of written complaint from any injured party, the member will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with Article IX of these By-Laws.
